FinTech is disrupting the financial industry globally. In the last three years alone, VCs and financial institutes had invested more than US$45 Billion in FinTech startups globally. McKinsey has predicted that 40% of banking industry’s revenue and 60% of the profits will be taken away by non-financial companies.
While China, the US, and UK have been aggressively pursuing innovative new FinTech services, Taiwan’s conservative financial industry has been sitting on the sideline. As such, it is facing a challenging future.
Starting from last year, there was a slow awaking in Taiwan’s financial industry. Is it too little, too late? What can Taiwan do to face the next wave of global financial tsunami caused by the FinTech revolution?
