The 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade will bring student-athletes from around the world for 12 days of competition and education, sportsmanship and friendship, to the beautiful island of Taiwan. Held from August 19th to 30th, the 2017 Summer Universiade is the world’s largest sporting event after the Olympics and will be the largest ever held in Taiwan, with over 12,000 participants -- both athletes and delegates -- from over 150 countries expected. Student-athletes will contend in 21 contests, including 14 compulsory sports regulated by FISU (International University Sports Federation) and seven optional sports. 79 venues and 14 universities in five cities and counties around Taiwan are being made ready to host the games. The opening and closing ceremonies will be at the Taipei Stadium and the athletes' village will operate from August 12th to September 2nd.
