Event Details

During this luncheon, our two guest speakers, Professor Harry Harding and Professor Syaru Shirley Lin of the University of Virginia, will discuss the challenges facing China, the U.S., and Taiwan in managing their complex triangular relationship, particularly given the actions of the new U.S. administration and the emergence of a distinctive Taiwanese identity over the past two decades. Prof. Lin was recently interviewed on this topic by The New York Times: "For Taiwan, a Dilemma Over Identity, Economy and China" and has written an op-ed in the South China Morning Post, “America’s policy on Taiwan and China Needs to Change with the Times.”
