Event Details

As technology evolves, so too does our need to ensure we are evolving our views on the balance between protecting personal privacy and determining appropriate uses and disclosures of information. With the rise of cloud technologies, striking the right balance means asking -- and answering -- the right questions. In the era following Edward Snowden’s disclosures, how can cloud service providers inspire your trust? How should privacy and free expression rights be weighed against a government’s need to access data to keep its citizens secure? How should information be treated differently when it is stored in the cloud than when kept in a file cabinet? How can cloud providers manage disparate laws about data protection and government access to data across the globe? When and under what circumstances should a cloud provider and its vendors be permitted to access customer data, and how transparent should the provider be about that access?
